During longer periods of enforced closure - when teachers are available for work - they teach a mixture of live and recorded lessons followed or preceded by pupil activity on given tasks. These tasks may be from textbooks and other materials sent home for pupils to use in conjunction with live teaching. Tasks may also be in the form of digital resources from Espresso Discovery, Oak Academy, BBC and others agreed with their school. Remote learning is planned and delivered by class teachers following the normal school curriculum.
Google is the means of communication between teachers and pupils. It is used to deliver links to other resources and give messages. Google Meet is used to deliver live teaching. Shorter periods of closure (when teachers are available for work) would see work set without live teaching being organised.
During extended closures every effort has been made to ensure pupil engagement. Pupils not attending sessions were contacted by the teacher on the day of non-attendance with further non-attendance referred to school leadership to pursue the matter.
