High pupil progress and attainment:
Our Trust’s system for learning has its basis in effective leadership actions; consistently good teaching and pupils who enjoy and understand their learning and are motivated to do their best.
We believe that our teachers and leaders should be aware of the continuing research of educationalists and writers and that this knowledge should shape their practice as reflective professionals in the classroom. We believe that effective learning is a social problem-solving activity and that collaboration between adult and pupil and between pupils must be a major feature of all lessons. We give children increasing social and personal responsibility to help them succeed with this.
Attainment in both schools in our Trust is in the top 1% of primary schools in the country and both appear in The Times Top 500 schools list. Pupils across our Trust achieve highly in all phases and they do so whatever their background. With higher than average levels of pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and much higher than average levels of pupils speaking English as an additional language, our pupils outperform national and local averages in the progress they make and in their overall attainment. We know that every child must succeed at school, whatever their background. We will never turn a child’s background into an excuse for underachievement.
